CWG -- Common Woes on games:(

What was once presumed to bring national pride has been the cause of international ignominy. Common Wealth Games: As these days said to have the biggest stroke on the Common Wealth of the tax payers. When India won the bid for hosting the CWG, the aim was not only to showcase the superiority of the Rising Super Power, but also to bring to our country positive vibes of other games which have been evanescent in the luminosity of cricket. Our thoughts were that time dripped in ocean of complacency that if china can successfully organize the Olympic extravaganza then why can’t we?? The only mistake we did was that we never bothered to ask this question to ourselves that are we mentally prepared to host CWG.We could have seen the way Chinese prepared for the Olympics .Not only they left no stones unturned to apotheosized that event but also they make sure that their players should also be able to perform brilliantly .And they achieved what they have targeted because of their perseverance dedication n undying attitude towards life .For them it was the moment to bask in national glory..
Our authorities could have tried in a similar fashion ,but they took it as an life time opportunity to inundate their Swiss bank account ,For them it was their hen laying golden eggs and they want to snatch the eggs once and for all..Not even once they have thought that their irresponsible behavior can demolish the image of India in front of the world.

The bid which India won was 2.6 Million and till date approx 7.6 Billion Indian rupees has been spent on the games. .Delhi was decided to host the event and it was the joint responsibility of the IOA and the delhi government to convert the capital city to an international sporting hub. Nothing is impossible if we take a task seriously on merits of its priorities .But the Indians bureaucrats are known from evading from their responsibilities. While the IOA thought that they have given the tenders to various organizations and their job is almost done, The delhi government was as usual busy in the beautification and building of flyovers in delhi. There was lack of time management due to which they keep on missing the deadlines and finally as we all have in common, everything kept to be completed till the 11th hour. There was a speculation among the masses that a large scale corruption is going on behind the scenes but the real mayhem began when the CVC (Central Vigilance commission) reports came out and they disclosed they high level corruption caused due to irregularities of the distribution of tenders to various organization. It was then that 99% public came to know that some Games are going to be organized in India. The heights of corruption were that a trading mill which cost around 1.6 lakhs was taken on rent by the IOA chief Mr Suresh kalmadi at 7.8 lakhs for 2 months!!Plants worth lakhs of rupees were started growing when there were just 2 months left for the games. At least they could have though that they are plants which grows according to nature and not human beings who can do labour beyond their capacity in the greed of extra wages.Even the prestigious Queens baton relay was not spared and the purchase of the cars saw tremendous corruption.Series of resignations of the corresponding authorities  too could not ameliorate the conditions. Continuous rains and traffic also made the situation worse.Atleast here we can salute Mr lalit modi...Despite doing a lot of corruption in the IPL's atleast he was the only one who singlehandedly outcast all the possibilities of the IPL being cancelled in 2009 . when the whole indian government was aginst him for conducting IPL in india..It was the might of that man that he conducted the mega event in South Africa in just a span of 15 days. It was tweeted that CWG could still be a success if Lalit Modi was entrusted with organizing the Games!

Few week were left still the so called Common wealth village was not yet completed .The media who is always in the search of getting some vibrant issue got an chance to raise the TRP'Sof their respective channels. The news of irregularities in meeting deadlines, breaking of ceilings and other hap-mishaps were flash countless times on their channels as breaking news attenuating the situation further. Media job is to bring the truth but sometimes for the sake of country they could have done it in a better way, instead of exaggerating each and every time. Amid all these happening there was not even single news regarding the preparation of our young sports stars. There was nothing that could encourage the interest of our countryman in the sporting extravaganza. The news of terror threats, health concerns raised the eyebrows of other nations and nowadays India is rebuked from all its sides. To give India the opportunity of hosting games is considered as the biggest mistakes by most participating nations. Our CWG village is reported as an filthy place to live in. What can be more shameful than this that many players from various participating countries refused to participate in the upcoming events. Just because of the selfish deeds of few authorities the whole nation has to suffer this ignominy.
To contemplate on past is the biggest mistake. Whatever happened has happened, but now at least its our responsibility to make this event as world class .We should create a sense of awareness amongst the masses. We should be proud of our sports person who amid all these tough situations are ready to bring back the pride of their nation by winning medals.
JUST \/ van bring the \/ (victory) and return the smile to millions of Indians who somehow feel cheated !!!

Interesting and Very well documented article.
Incidentally ,Mr Kalamadi has been arrested today only .
We can always expect such level of corruption at the top level until we select a clean government . Also we should support people like Anna Hazare , who are leading the march against corruption .
